Wandering, wondering teenagers. Feeling pressure from her mother to become a conformist, Caron leaves Paris for Venice, hoping to lead a more spontaneous, carefree life. Her boyfriend Lebas and his pal Cluzet follow Caron, intent on convincing her to return to France. The boys' car and Caron's belongings are stolen in Italy, and when they hear that a series of worker-student riots have been occurring in Paris, they decide to return home and join in the political struggle, whatever its motives are. Having debuted with PEPPERMINT SODA, a very fine film about the problems of adolescence, talented director Kurys returned to similar subject matter with this youth-oriented road movie. Though not as successful as her previous work, the film still manages to convey the troubling, questioning, yet vital feelings of becoming an adult while still maintaining the hope of youth. leave a comment
