When her husband tries to have her committed to avoid a costly divorce, Madie Levrington (Dyan Cannon) leaves her New York home and cons truck driver Charlie Callahan (Robert Blake) into driving her out of town. Though Madie's constant chatter initially drives Charlie crazy, he soon
takes a liking to her and does what he can to help her. Though Blake offers a fine performance, bringing dignity and low-key humor to his world-weary truck driver, the rest of the film comes from the sledge-hammer school of comedy. It's dimwitted, loud, and suffers from an unbearable performance
by Cannon.
