After making a name for himself as a motocross racer in New Jersey, Cal (Tom Parsekian) decides to leave his racing career and hit the big time as an actor in Hollywood. The young tough ends up in the seediest part of town, hired as a bouncer at a dance club run by Hector (Tony Curtis), himself a former bouncer. Hector is made an offer by a gang of drug peddling mafiosos, But he refuses to sell the club, and the consequences of his defiance soon spread. While not a realistic portrayal of life on the edge, CLUB LIFE does take an interesting approach to the subject. Rather than show how wonderful life can be in nightclubs, producer-writer-director Norman Thaddeus Vane has painted a rather bleak portrait. Much of the dialog is clumsy, but the performances are compelling enough to hold the picture together. Curtis does a fine job and makes the whole film worthwhile. There is an unfortunate excess of dance routines. leave a comment
