Both leads return for this sequel to CLAUDIA, the film that introduced McGuire to the movies. She is still the lovable but air-headed wife who can't make up her mind about anything and might starve to death trying to decide what to have for lunch. They have a young son now (Sydes), and when a bogus seer tells Young he will have an accident if he goes west, problems erupt. Sydes gets sick, and McGuire quickly suspects a fatal disease, only to discover it's measles. Astor seeks Young's advice for some building matters, but Claudia gets terribly jealous, and Sutton, a handsome married man, starts putting moves on McGuire, all of which confuses the already addled woman. There are any number of other incidents, and by this time CLAUDIA AND DAVID seems very much like the former film, a string of occurrences held together by the actors. It's light and crammed full of action, pathos, and about every emotion one could shoehorn into 78 minutes. Very good supporting help from Cowan, Bates, Blandick, and all the other regulars on the Fox lot. leave a comment
