McBain is a young farm girl in the rural South who defies her mother's wishes by refusing to marry well-to-do landowner Akins and opting instead for dirt-farmer-next-door Everett. When Everett is drafted for a two-year hitch, McBain becomes the town doxy, leading men to fight over her.
When one dispute over her charms ends with one of the men running the other over, the father of the dead man comes to McBain's shack and shoots her dead. Little more than a sleazy exploitation movie, despite a sound cast. Nominated for Best Costume Design by the Academy.
