This poorly scripted rites-of-passage film stars Andrew McCarthy as Jonathan, a naive prep school student who becomes involved in an affair with older woman Ellen (Jacqueline Bisset). Unknown to him, Ellen is the mother of his roommate, Skip (Rob Lowe). Haphazard construction (the film
vacillates between low comedy and teenage drama), one-dimensional characters, and vague, simpleminded motivations add up to a great waste of talent.
