Maxwell is a Canadian newspaper reporter en route to Hungary who is approached by a man who wants him to carry into the country a package that he says contains medicine for his niece. Maxwell gets the package in but loses the phone number he is supposed to call. He arranges for a message to be broadcast on the radio, and soon Mell approaches him, claiming to be the recipient. Maxwell discovers that the package contains two passports intended to help scientist Lieven escape to Austria and then learns that Mell is a police spy, as is the man who gave him the package in the first place.
