A romantic but nonsexual relationship between a 60-year-old artist and a 16-year-old student is the center of this potentially interesting but ultimately pedestrian film. Richard Burton plays the aging artist, Ashley St. Clair, who hasn't touched a paint brush in over 10 years. He
encounters Sarah Norton (Tatum O'Neal) at a porno movie she has been dared to sit through by some friends. (A careful look will reveal Ryan O'Neal, Tatum's father, and Lee Majors among those also in the porno house.) They soon begin a relationship over the strenuous objections of their families
and friends.
