Bruce Lee, James Coburn, and Stirling Silliphant originally wrote this martial arts fantasy for Lee, but Carradine ended up as the star due to Lee's tragic early demise. Basically just another chop-chop kung fu film, CIRCLE OF IRON lacks the intensity that Lee could have given it. Most
of the time Carradine plays a guide to a knowledge-seeking fighter, Cooper, leading him through the Zen-packed story (what is the sound of one hand clapping?). The fight scenes are good, and the settings keep the audience truly mystified as to the time frame and location of this fantasy world.
