This fast-action escapist film concerns itself with a small island off the China coast and the skulduggery that takes place there. Hall plays an American ship engineer stranded on the island, where he meets an exotic Eurasian girl, Ferraday, and becomes romantically involved with her. Borgnine plays a double-crossing Asian interested in the antique collection of the girl's uncle. Hall gets a job on a charter boat, but meantime Ferraday is betrayed by her British lover, Randell, who uses her to get close to the uncle. Randell kills him and runs off with the costly jade on the boat. Ferraday catches up with Randell only to see him killed by Hall, resulting in Hall being taken prisoner. Wounded during the scuffle, Ferraday dies in Hall's arms. There's nothing startling or terribly suspenseful in the film, but the action moves along at a fair pace. leave a comment
