Testi is a gunfighter saved from the gallows by railroad men who want him to kill Oates because the latter's farm is in the way of their line. Testi fails to kill Oates, but he does sleep with Agutter, Oates's wife. When he leaves, she follows him, believing her husband to be dead. The
