Child's Play

Is anyone ever going to make a really good movie about toys coming to life to kill people? Although better than Stuart Gordon's disappointing DOLLS (1987), CHILD'S PLAY too fails to milk the situation for all it's worth and delivers only half the chills it could have. Crazed serial killer Dourif is tracked down by Chicago cop Sarandon and is fatally shot in a toy store. The dying killer invokes voodoo powers and transfers his evil spirit into a "Good Guy" doll--a large, expensive toy that responds to human commands and talks while moving its mouth and eyes.
