1986, Movie, R, 92 mins

You know a movie's in deep trouble when it resorts to child molestation to raise a few scares. WHERE ARE THE CHILDREN? isn't just a bad suspense drama; it's an appalling exercise in depravity. Nancy Eldridge (Jill Clayburgh) is the happy mother of two children, who lives in sheer bliss with her husband Clay (Max Gail). Tragedy arrives on schedule when the kids are kidnaped by psychopath Courtney Parrish (Frederic Forrest). As a suspense film, the construction is ridiculously simplistic, but the added element of child molestation makes this often unwatchable. Forrest gives a frighteningly psychotic performance. Clayburgh does nothing to further her career with her one-note hysterical performance, while the supporting players slog through as best they can. leave a comment
