Screenwriter Sam Harper and director Adam Shankman appear to have taken the notion of "the more the merrier" seriously. But unfortunately in this instance, more doesn't make merry, only mayhem: Adding a second family of eight youngsters to the 12 Baker children introduced in CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN (2003) adds up to a mind-boggling mob of little faces, all mugging wildly. Chicago-based Tom and Kate Baker (Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt) are lamenting the fact that their children are ... read more leave a comment

KING KONG, THE WITCH IS AHEAD

What a trio of T. rexes couldn't do, a lion, a witch and a magic closet did over the long holiday weekend: If only barely, they toppled the great ape. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Rest of the Title Goes On as Long as the Name of a Fiona Apple CD took in $32.8 million, over $1 million more than King Kong, which came in second with $31.6 million. Rounding out the Top 5 were: Fun with Dick and Jane in third with $21 million, Cheaper by the Dozen 2 in fourth with $19.3 million, and the J.An romantic comedy Rumor Has It in fifth with $11.6 million. read more

Rounding out the top five were Fun with Dick and Jane (which I came thisclose to seeing, before remembering that Jim Carrey films often disappoint), Cheaper by the Dozen 2 (which, I figured, probably carried the prerequisite of seeing the original, lest one be hopelessly lost) and The Family Stone (which no matter how many times I see the title, makes me think of Sharon). read more

Hilary Duff, Part 1: Busy Teen Queen

Hilary Duff has just woken up from a well-deserved nap. The multiplatinum recording artist, in the midst of her 33-city Still Most Wanted concert tour, has just flown into Kansas City, Mo., from the Ontario set of Cheaper by the Dozen 2. On top of that, the teen queen is gearing up to host the Teen Choice Awards, airing on Fox on Aug. 16 — the same day that her third album, Most Wanted, hits stores. Whew! Though a busy, busy girl, Duff was happy to make time for TVGuide.com. Here, in Part 1 of our interview, she discusses life on the road, sibling revelry and plans for the big 1-8.

TVGuide.com: We caught you smack-dab in the middle of your tour. Think you'll make it to Sept. 25?
Hilary Duff:
