Chasing Rainbows: Review

Male half of traveling vaudeville team constantly falls in love with leading ladies, causing much consternation to the female half. When King finds his current love interest in the arms of another, he sees the light and goes back to his original partner, prompting her to break into "Happy Days Are Here Again," in the song's movie debut. Audiences did not share the sentiment however, weary as they were with musicals, and refused to see the film, though the final segment was shot in technicolor. Benny does a good job in a serious role of a jaundiced stage manager, but the movie did not produce a pot of gold. Songs include: "Happy Days Are Here Again," "Lucky Me, Lovable You," "Do I Know What I'm Doing," "Everybody Tap," (Milton Ager, Jack Yellen), "Love Ain't Nothin' But the Blues" (Joe Goodwin, Louis Alter), "Dynamic Personality" (Fred Fisher, Ed Ward, Reggie Montgomery), "Poor But Honest" (Gus Edwards), and "Gotta Feeling For You" (Joe Trent, Alter). leave a comment
