Penner ("Wanna buy a duck?"), a popular radio comedian of the day, had difficulty finding the right film for his talents until GO CHASE YOURSELF. Here, he's an unassuming bank clerk who, after a series of misadventures, ends up in a trailer being towed by some gangsters. His wife (Ball) and the cops think he's stolen the bank's loot, and the chase is on. In the end, Penner saves the day and clears his name. While nothing memorable, GO CHASE YOURSELF is a thoroughly enjoyable farce, and Penner is terrific. The direction never lags behind the frenzied pace of the film. Ball is fine as the hardboiled wife. Perhaps this toughminded style reflected her off-screen character: she eventually ended up owning RKO. leave a comment
