Charlie Bubbles: Review
Not a great movie but an absorbing one about a writer who becomes suddenly successful, finds it very boring, and has an affair with his secretary. Albert Finney and Liza Minnelli star in a fantasy of escape that remains unique. This was Finney's directorial debut and a romantic touchstone for some in the late Sixties. Billie Whitelaw, as Charlie's estranged wife, won a British Academy award for her role as Best Supporting Actress.
