A fine military swashbuckler, with some of the most dynamic action sequences ever seen on the screen. Great pains were taken to re-create the 1850s milieu but Warner Bros. typically discarded the actual facts regarding the magnificent military blunder, retaining instead the era's pomp and the stirring lines of Tennyson's famous poem.
