A confused youngster (Lane) decides to leave the security of home and travel to Big Sur in an effort to experience life. Along the way, he encounters a number of characters who have a great impact on him, including a young woman who commits suicide. This heavy-handed attempt at creating a poetic road movie misses the subtleties of the generation it depicts. Albertson, playing a concerned, sympathetic father, turns in a convincing performance. Tim Buckley, Judy Collins, and Neil Young perform songs of the period. leave a comment
