Cocksure Ray Rockman (Jeff Wolfe) may needle his brother William (Louis Mandylor) for retiring from the world of extreme fighting, but William's decision is justified when Ray dies in the ring during regional try-outs. What neither brother realized is that promoter Max Brito (Danny Trejo) has conspired with US Senator Able (Harrison Young) to get his controversial fringe sport banned, so that he can cultivate a more lucrative underground clientele. Now, jaded gamblers and jet-setters will pay big bucks to watch Max's gladiators fight to the death. Determined to end this lethal pastime, William battles his way back into the arena where his ultimate challenge comes from King (Ken Shamrock), the boxer who murdered Ray. In order to accomplish his goal, William needs this bruiser's cooperation. Unfortunately, King's a gambling addict who owes mucho dinero to Max, who's collecting part of the debt by sleeping with King's wife. Featuring a predictable get-even storyline and gruesome brutality, this bare-knuckles bonanza is everything you'd expect and less. For rabid fight buffs, it doles out enough knockout punches to quench viewer bloodlust, but to pickier genre fans, this slovenly directed feature will seem stitched together from other mediocre brawl-a-thons. leave a comment --Robert Pardi
