Leslie Banks, in a big come-down since his glory days with Hitchcock, plays Manetta, a mad doctor and descendant of Spanish Inquisitors who eliminates the heirs to a fortune through an imaginative series of tortures and experiments. When June Lansdowne (Lilli Palmer) turns up as an unknown claimant to the estate, Manetta menaces her until police inspector Sneed (Richard Bird) puts a stop to his fiendish machinations. Banks seems thoroughly uncomfortable as a mad Spanish scientist, but Palmer does as well as could be expected in a low-budget programmer like this.
