Stanwyck is a tough taxi dancer collecting the title fee from sailors and the like while watching out for her naive coworker, Blane. One night, wealthy Cortez gives Stanwyck $100, which she in turn gives to Owsley, an impoverished resident of the boarding house she lives in, and with whom Stanwyck has fallen in love.
