Post-Civil War hostilities between a group of small Texas ranchers and Teal, a wealthy Northerner who buys up their land, makes a go-between essential. Morgan plays the peacemaker chosen by the governor to put an end to the conflict. Through some deceptive moves, he rids the townsfolk of
their weapons and order is achieved, but not before Teal is killed in a cattle stampede. These land wars are too often interrupted by songs, including "Dixie," "Marching Through Georgia," "The Bonnie Blue Flag," and "The Cowboy."
