Shot in Glacier National Park in Montana, this fair western has Stanwyck and her father, Ankrum, driving their huge cattle herd up from Texas. Indians raid the small party, kill the old man, and run the cattle off in all directions. Stanwyck then finds out that the Indians are working for Evans, a local villain who is planning on building his own cattle empire. Reagan is sent by the US Army to find out who is behind all this Indian activity. Caruso is the Indian who is taking money from Evans. An internecine squabble erupts inside the tribe with Caruso battling college-educated Lance Fuller. A small love affair develops between Reagan and Stanwyck, and the two recover the missing steers and decide to run a Montana ranch together. Stanwyck did all of her own stunts in this film and was so admired by the local Blackfeet Indians (hired by the hundreds as extras) that they gave her the Indian name of Princess Many Victories and made her a blood sister in the tribe. Hollywood legend has it that whenever Reagan saw Stanwyck, he addressed her by her Indian name. leave a comment
