On Stage: Another Idol Pays Her Rent, and More

American Idol Season 1 finalist Tamyra Gray will join the cast of Broadway's Rent on May 29. During her run, she'll share the stage with original players Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp, who, despite middle age, return to their humble roots July 30.... Nathan Lane and Luke Duke himself, Tom Wopat, have been invited to appear in a workshop of Catch Me If You Can, a musicalization of the Steven Spielberg film. The same team that turned Hairspray into a Broadway blockbuster hope to cast Lane in the Tom Hanks role and Wopat as the juvenile con's dad. No word on who will fill Leonardo DiCaprio's disguises.... Cutting remarks: Zorro's Williams

Question: I was a fan of Lost in Space, but was an even bigger fan of Zorro, who was played by LiS's Guy Williams. One thing I always wondered, though. Since he had a mask on, was that really him with the sword?

Answer: That it was, Jeff. Matter of fact, the only reason Williams, whose acting résumé was pretty much nonexistent up to that point, got the role was that he was mighty handy with a blade. It seems Williams, born Armando Catalano in New York City, was the only one to audition who could actually fence. His father, a skilled fencer in his native Italy, taught his son to handle a sword, but neither of them dreamed how valuable a skill it would prove to be after Williams became a contract player at Universal in the early '50s.

Want proof that up-and-coming starlet Amy Adams, who currently can be seen playing Leonardo DiCaprio's Southern sweetie in Catch Me If You Can, has indeed arrived? The media is scouring her closet for skeletons! Luckily, the biggest scandal the press has been able to dredge up was Adams's brief stint as a waitress at busty restaurant chain Hooters.
