1963, Movie, NR, 129 mins

Strange cast gathered together for an interesting costume epic. Santoni is a 10th-century Spanish nobleman who returns from exile to lead his followers against the Moors and evil king Crawford. Santoni is captured but escapes with the help of Velazquez, Crawford's daughter. Rejoining his forces, Santoni leads them to total victory over the Moors after Rigaud and Pena, patron saints of Spain, come to Earth to advise him. He makes peace with the successors of the by-now-dead Crawford, marries Velazquez, and settles down to rule over Castille. Based on a 13th-century epic poem, the film is worth checking out. Songs: "Song of Fernan," "Valley of the Swords," "Song of Love." leave a comment
