CASSANDRA CROSSING, THE
starstarstarstar
A trainload of people are contaminated by terrorists seeking the release of prisoners and other sanctions. The bizarre and unbelievable plot is further confused by Lancaster, a military man who purposely tries to send the train across a condemned wooden trestle to certain disaster, putting shock troops on board to kill anyone who attempts to stop the plan wherein all passengers will die (not that this will stop the disease; it is designed to besmirch the terrorists). Loren, Harris, Gardner, and others with fast-fading careers contribute little or nothing to this absurd hokum. The 43-year-old Loren plays a much younger woman and is not convincing, nor is Gardner, attempting the same kind of role with young lover Sheen who comes down with the plague. Harris, as the doctor who tries to save the passengers, is annoying as he transforms himself into a machine gunner battling hooded guards. The best thing about this forced film is the special effects at the finale. leave a comment
