Lighthearted swashbuckler set in 18th-century France. Belmondo joins the army to evade a rival gang chief, runs off with the regimental payroll, and takes over the gang. He falls for gypsy Cardinale, and together they become Robin Hood types, stealing from the rich. When Belmondo is captured, Cardinale sacrifices her life to save him. Belmondo dedicates his life to avenging her. Bright colors, fast pacing, good fun. leave a comment
