A chilling ghost story with artistic pretensions, CARNIVAL OF SOULS was independently produced in Lawrence, Kansas, for less than $100,000 and today has a large cult following. The story opens as Hilligoss and two of her friends accidentally drive off a bridge to a watery grave in the river below. Inexplicably, however, Hilligoss emerges from the depths. She drives to Utah and becomes the new organist in a local church.
