This is a strange little movie, whose primary purpose was to fulfill a Hollywood screen test competition sponsored by CBS radio and Wrigley's Doublemint gum. The two discovered "talents," Archer and Eden, show passable skills in this homespun tale. The plot revolves around the long rivalry between two men, Ellis and Hinds, who have lived in the same small midwestern town their whole lives. When younger, they battled for the affection of the same woman, who finally chose Hinds over Ellis. Hinds becomes the town's banker, Ellis its storekeeper, and both have children, Ellis a son and Hinds a daughter. Hinds' wife dies, leaving him a widower, and the feuding men's chi...
