Powerful WW II prisoner-of-war drama starring Redgrave as a Czech captain, educated in England, who takes on the identity of a dead British officer to escape the Gestapo. The ploy works, but he is captured and thrown into a stalag reserved for the British. After many brushes with death, he
must convince the British that he is indeed a refugee and not a spy. After he persuades the British and wins his freedom, he then must redeem himself with the widow of the dead soldier he was impersonating. Filled with good performances, with Redgrave a real standout.
