1955, Movie, NR, 91 mins

This overly talky and generally disappointing swashbuckler was directed by melodrama expert Douglas Sirk. Hudson plays a young Irish patriot who joins up with rebel leader Morrow. He soon falls for Morrow's daughter, Rush, between daring fights and heroic deeds. In the climax Morrow is wounded and Hudson assumes command of the rebel army. Shot on location in Ireland, the film looks authentic but problems arise from the mix of Irish accents and unnecessarily complex and inane dialog. leave a comment
