An authentic American hero, Eddie Rickenbacker was properly lionized in this Fox film released between the German and the Japanese surrenders in 1945. By that time, the end of the war in the Pacific was a foregone conclusion and patriotism was rampant, so there couldn't have been a better time to release the movie.
