The Empty Canvas

Buchholz is a talentless artist in love with model Spaak. He brings her to the family estate to meet his mother, Davis, and to impress her with his wealth. She refuses to marry him but offers to be his mistress until someone she likes better comes along. He tries to change her mind by covering her nude body with money, when suddenly Davis walks in. The mother surveys the strange tableau and coolly leaves. When Spaak later goes on a holiday with a rival of Buchholz, he suffers a breakdown. Davis helps him through it and finally he is well enough to paint, announcing that he can do something worthwhile because he now knows that life is not an empty canvas. A bad, pom...
