Durbin stars in her first color musical, a pleasant production set in 1847, as a feisty daughter of an important senator. She ignores her father's wishes and runs out West to marry a cavalry officer. Outraged, the senator uses his influence to ship the young officer to a remote part of
California where Durbin will never find him. It doesn't matter, because Durbin meets up with the handsome and adventurous Paige and falls in love with him by the time she reaches California. Songs by Jerome Kern and E. Y Harburg include "Can't Help Singing," "More and More," "Cal-i-for-ni-ay,"
"Elbow Room," "Swing Your Sweatheart," and "Any Moment Now."
