Wholly fictitious but nonetheless entertaining saga of the building of the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Shot on location in the Rockies, the story concerns the efforts of a heroic surveyor, Scott, as he makes the way for the train tracks. A romantic triangle develops between tough-gal Olson,
the more feminine lady doc Wyatt, and Scott. Trouble arises for the railroad when a gang of vicious trappers led by Jory decide that the trains will invade their territory and ruin their livelihood. To halt the railroad's progress Jory stirs up trouble with the local Indians, who then attack the
railroaders. In the end, progress triumphs.
