Yet another in the string of "nightmare" horror films, CAMERON'S CLOSET borrows liberally from the 1984 Dennis Quaid vehicle DREAMSCAPE. The subject of research carried out by his father (Tab Hunter), ten-year-old Cameron Lansing (Scott Curtis) develops extraordinary mental powers. After Dad dies, Cameron goes to live with his mother and soon unleashes a hideous monster from the depths of hell A psychiatrist (Mel Harris of TV's "thirtysomething") and a cop (Cotter Smith, Harris' real-life husband) help him battle the demon. Undoubtedly the biggest "star" connected with this project was special effects wizard Carlo Rambaldi, and gorehounds are likely to be pleased with the several renditions of the demon he provides, not to mention the half-dozen gruesome deaths. The story, however, is confusing and illogical. leave a comment
