Cain's Way

1970, Movie, R, 93 mins

Slow-moving, pretentious, bloody western set during the Civil War stars Brady as a man whose family has been slaughtered by a gang of Confederate renegades led by Dix. (Brady's wife was black.) Aided by preacher Carradine (who is also a bounty hunter), Brady tracks down the killers, cuts off their heads, and keeps them as trophies. These moments are intercut with modern-day footage of renegade motorcycle gangs raising hell in a small town. The effect is supposed to be a condemnation-comparison of violence throughout American history. It fails miserably. leave a comment
