Italian costume epic has a bit more to do with historical reality than the general run of them (Hercules, Maciste, et al.),but is no better. Mitchell is the Roman emperor and general, attempting to secure more soldiers for his Gallic campaign, despite opposition from the Senate. His ward (Carra) and her lover (Payer) are captured by the Gauls under Battaglia, but Queen Astrid(Wilms)frees them. The pair warn the Romans and Mitchell leads his troops to victory, capturing Battaglia. leave a comment
