BYE BYE BRAZIL is a colorful, exotic collection of vignettes about modern Brazil. The film follows a carnival troupe as they travel throughout the country, wandering deep into the Amazonian jungles, in search of new places where they can put on a show. The eccentric group consists of Lord Cigano (Jose Wilker), a magician who organized the troupe; Salome (Betty Faria), his mistress and the show's exotic dancer/prostitute; Cico (Fabio Junior), a young accordionist infatuated with Salome; Dasdo (Zaira Zambelli), Cico's pregnant wife; and Swallow (Principe Nabor), a black, deaf-mute strongman. An insightful and humorous look at two Brazils in conflict--the traditional Brazil versus the progressive Brazil, with its infusions of North American culture. leave a comment
