Bye Bye Birdie

When a contest brings Elvis-type pop star Conrad Birdie (Jesse Pearson) to Sweet Apple, Ohio, for a final performance before entering the Army, songwriter Albert Peterson (Dick Van Dyke) becomes determined to have the singer perform one of his tunes on the program. Albert's difficulties are compounded by his mother's disapproval of his love for the lovely Rosie DeLeon (Janet Leigh). On the night of the performance, with Ed Sullivan on hand to televise the event, local Birdie fanatic Kim McAfee (Ann-Margret) gets special attention from her idol, and both of Albert's wishes are granted, though not without comic complications.
