As the Civil War ends, Ireland vows never to use a gun against a man again. Traveling west, he stops for a while in a town in which Chaney is the local powerhouse. When Malone's newspaper publisher father is killed after printing some anti-Chaney articles, Ireland straps on his gun again and wipes out Chaney and his men.
