Krauss plays a once brilliant, now aging stage actor who falls in love with an up-and-coming young actress, Raky. He professes his love and announces his retirement from the boards. Raky pretends to return his affections for the sake of her real lover, Eichberger, who is a struggling
actor looking for a break. When the truth comes out, Krauss's ego is bruised, but he overcomes his shock and sees that the romance was never meant to be. Eichberger, however, attempts suicide upon losing his job at the Burg Theatre, but the old actor saves him. Very lengthy and too melodramatic to
maintain interest.
