Buddies

BUDDIES is an intelligent, if somewhat overwritten, drama that deals sensitively with an emotionally charged issue. Geoff Edholm, a man dying of AIDS, receives personal care from David Schachter, a volunteer worker. BUDDIES is a sincere attempt to portray a tragic situation in very simple terms. Schachter and Edholm carry the bulk of the film but can't quite pull it off. Ideas are repeated to the point of being preachy, though this undoubtedly was the result of the film's hectic production schedule. Written in five days, it then was shot on a nine-day schedule.
