Having graduated from the Virginia Military Institute, three comrades settle into the "real" world. Reagan becomes an illustrator, Albert a football coach at a small school, and Morris sponges off of his wealthy publisher father. When Morris becomes determined to fulfill Albert's dream of becoming coach at their alma mater, he enlists the aid of Reagan and, after a variety of screw-ups, finally resorts to placing Albert's precocious baby boy on a plane bound for Peru on a goodwill mission. The boy is returned, and the resulting publicity makes the heads of the Institute offer Albert the position. Albert and Bryan are reunited with their child, and Reagan and Morris finally win the hands of their long-time sweethearts, Wyman and Lane. This disappointing sequel to the successful BROTHER RAT failed to capture the charm of its predecessor, even though it included the same leading players and was scripted by the original writers. The nature of the humor was distinctly more "screwball" and sadly neglected the humanistic appeal of the first film. leave a comment
