A lesser entry from a master director, BRINK OF LIFE details the trials and tribulations of three mothers in a maternity ward voicing their opinions about keeping and not keeping the child each is carrying. Rather gloomy and lacking in action--as with many Bergman films--the film has a
rather surprising documentary look to it and is expertly acted, but ultimately chokes during its own confinement.
