BREAKOUT is a mistake that made it to the theaters. Something like this really did happen, but it had to have been done a lot better than they did this movie. Bronson is the devil-may-care pilot who rescues Duvall from the Mexican prison where he has been framed by Huston. Ireland is
Duvall's wife in the film, Bronson's in real life. It's one of those vigilante, simplistic stories that has audiences not mistaking the good guys for the bad guys at all. Unmotivated, often plodding, and singularly without humor, this film could have been terrific. Nice acting from North, Quaid,
and Rey, but Gries (WILL PENNY; HELTER SKELTER) didn't do his best work in this film.
