Made at lightning speed (it was reportedly shot and released within one month) to capitalize on 1984's ubiquitous commercialization of break dancing, BREAKIN' teams classical-dance student Dickey with LA performers Quinones and Chambers, who essentially play themselves (two street artists whose break-dancing skill has made them local legends). They join forces, dance their way through the sun-splashed streets and clubs of LA, and take advantage of the opportunity to audition for a New York show to convince their stuffy, older detractors that they have what it takes to make it on Broadway.
