This offbeat parody of MY DINNER WITH ANDRE features pro wrestler Freddie Blassie and comedian Andy Kaufman, the self-proclaimed "Inter-gender Wrestling Champion of the World." With its weird humor, more strange than funny, this film is not for everyone. Kaufman, who died of cancer in 1984,
was either a nut who got lucky or an unparalleled comic trend-setter way ahead of his time. Allowed to improvise freely, he and Blassie have a hit-or-miss comic style that is often crude, but always creative. The film was shot in three days on video tape, and the photography (blown up to 16mm) and
sound leave a lot to be desired. Still, this is definitely worth a look.
