Brain Of Blood: Review
Hack director Al Adamson once again assembled his usual cast and crew for this rotten mad scientist effort, shot around the same time as DRACULA VS. FRANKENSTEIN. The corpse of fallen Arab leader Amir (Reed Hadley) is rushed to the lab of Dr. Trenton (Kent Taylor), who has invented a way to transplant a human brain from one body to another. In a hurry to transplant Amir's brain, lest it go bad, Trenton transfers it into the body of his deformed assistant, Gor (John Bloom, who played Frankenstein's monster in DRACULA VS. FRANKENSTEIN). When Amir's mind awakens and sees that he has become an ugly monster, he goes nuts and threatens mayhem all around. A typically inept Adamson production, BRAIN OF BLOOD features most of the supporting cast from DRACULA VS. FRANKENSTEIN, including dwarf actor Angelo Rossito, the oddly named Zandor Vorkov, and, of course, the director's voluptuous wife, Regina Carrol. The resulting film is not quite as bad as DRACULA VS. FRANKENSTEIN, but darn close, and has become something of a cult favorite with late-show television viewers. Filmed at least partially in the Philippines.
